(Credit to /u/Mexicanknight14 for finding the video)Īim-dodging doesn't require nearly the speeds that bullet timing does. To be fair, it's probably more attributed to the gunman's poor aim than the dodger's reflexes but it still furthers my point. Here's a funny example of human aim dodging. (Credit to /u/di_bello)Įven IRL humans can aim dodge, though it's difficult. Notice how he moves his shield not in reaction to the bullets, but the direction in which WS is pointing his gun. Here's MCU Cap aim-dodging(or aim blocking) Winter Soldier's gun fire. In this scan you can clearly see Bats moving out of the way of the gunman's aim, not the bullets. Basically, if you can move out of the way of a gunman's aim before they can readjust it, you aim dodged. Unlike it's more advanced and sophisticated cousin, aim dodging is evading gunfire BEFORE the bullet is fired. That varies based on the situation though.Īim-dodging is basically a poor-man's version of bullet timing. Not to mention the speed at which the timer has to move their body/limbs to block or dodge the bullet itself. So a bullet timer has at least 10 times the reaction speed of an real life human.

According to this site, average IRL human reaction times are about 240 milliseconds. So the dodger has 20 milliseconds to process the information that the bullet is traveling and make the movement. If we're assuming that the characters are standing 10 meters apart, the bullet crosses the distance in 0.02 seconds. Which is pretty low end for guns considering the AK-47 shoots at about double the speed. To put into perspective how fast these reactions are, a standard 9mm pistol fires its rounds at about 380-400m/s(850-900 mph). These are all clear cut bullet timing feats. In all these scenes, there was a reaction or movement made while the bullets were in the air. Credit goes to /u/rph39 's great Percy Jackson RT. I deflected it off the edge of my blade and kept charging. I won't say I could see the bullet, but I could feel its path, the same way I felt currents in the ocean. Here's a classic anime instance of bullet timing.īullet timing in a video game. Bullet timing is simply moving or reacting to a bullet AFTER it's fired. I'm going to start with the more clear of the two. So I'm going to discuss the differences, some issues I have with supposed "bullet timing" feats, and how I think the sub should deal with these feats. So I've noticed that, especially as of late, people tend to mix up aimdodging and bullet timing.
